Pear Panna Cotta


  • A light custard with Amaretto infused pears.
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tsp. unflavored gelatin
  • 2 cups whipping cream, divided
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1½ cups plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 pears, peeled, cored and sliced thick
  • 3 tbsp. Amaretto
  • 4 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. butter


  1. Put milk in med bowl. Sprinkle gelatin over milk and let stand 10 min.
  2. In large saucepan, combine 1 cup whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla.
  3. Bring to a simmer over med heat. Add gelatin mixture and stir till dissolved.
  4. Remove from heat and whisk in remaining cream and yogurt.
  5. Pour into ramekins or dessert dishes and chill till set, at least 4 hours.
  6. Place pears, Amaretto, brown sugar and butter in saucepan.
  7. Simmer till pears are tender and liquid is syrupy.
  8. To serve, plate up dishes of panna cotta and spoon pears on top with syrup.
