Sauce Béchamel

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 2 tbsp. minced onion or shallot
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • salt & pepper
  • dash of nutmeg
  • Bouquet garni

Steps

  1. Melt butter in small saucepan.
  2. Sauté onions till soft & translucent.
  3. Sprinkle flour over mix and stir in.
  4. Cook for a couple minutes more.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Slowly add milk while stirring to get smooth texture.
  7. Add herbs & spices & bring to a simmer & cook till thickened.
  8. Strain and serve over any meat or fish.
